Bangalore: Startled BJP Leaders in 'Save BJP' Mode: RSS, Party Activists Aim at Lifting Party Fortun

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Mar 12: Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) has continued with its efforts to ward away the dissidence the BJP is facing due to faulty allocation of Lok Sabha tickets, although its efforts have mostly been behind-the-scenes. Taken aback by the increasing revolt from the disgruntled partymen, chief minister B S Yeddyurappa abruptly cancelled his Hassan trip on Wednesday March 11 and rushed to the state capital, to hold consultations with the RSS leaders.

It is learnt, that the RSS leaders in no uncertain terms, expressed their concern over the allegations of nepotism, issuance of tickets to family members of powerful leaders instead of sincere activists and the likely adverse repercussions the open debate on the issue indulged in by dissidents will have on the party fortunes, with the chief minister. The fact that the government made appointments to certain boards and corporations suddenly upon the Lok Sabha election declaration and the bitterness it caused in some quarters, also came up for consideration, it is gathered.

The dissidents are not ready to give up. They say, their aim is to preserve the basic fabric of the party and have expressed themselves against sacrificing party ideals for the sake of gaining in numbers and rising to power. Disgruntled leaders like  ex-MP Basavaraj Patil Yetnal, B B Shivappa and Mallikarjunaiah are likely to meet Swabhimani Vedike leader Ram Bhat this week to plan their action aimed at ‘cleansing’ the BJP of the scourge of nepotism and hunger for power.

In a knee-jerk reaction to the efforts being made by Swabhimani Vedike leaders, BJP activists, elsewhere in Puttur, have decided to launch a movement to face the political challenge the party is facing from the dissidents and rebels. In a move reportedly backed by the RSS, the activists have called for a block level meeting of BJP workers in Puttur on Thursday. Later, meetings at village level, assembly constituency level etc., have been planned. In a meeting held in the home of Puttur MLA Mallika Prasad on March 10 and attended by BJP and RSS leaders, a plan to counter the party opponents was agreed upon.

Party sources said, that the party's state unit president D V Sadanand Gowda will hold village-level campaign all through Mangalore Lok Sabha constituency, commencing from Uppinangady village on March 21, to give a fitting reply to the Vedike challenge.
