Mangalore, Mar 13: The fifth university-level students’ literary conference will be held at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College auditorium here on Saturday March 14.

The event is being organized by the Post-graduation Alumni Association of Mangalore University.

Renowned novelist and Kendra Sahitya Academy Award winner K Veerabhadrappa will inaugurate the conference, said Rajesh Padmar, president of Students' Union, speaking at a press conference held here on Thursday March 12.

Prof K M Kaveriappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University will preside over the function, while Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao, educationist will participate as guest. University students' welfare officer Dr Ravishankar Rao will deliver introductory address.

Valedictory function of the programme will be held at 4 pm the same day, under the presidentship of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president Dr Paltady Ramakrishna Achar. Scholar, educationist C H Krishna Shastri Balila will deliver the valedictory address. Prizes to winners of various competitions will be distributed at the function.

Symposium to be chaired by writer Narendra Rai Derla, humourists session to be presided by humorist Bhuvaneshwari Hegde and poets conference to be chaired by poet G S Ubaradka will be part of the conference. Selected essays by students will be presented at the sessions.

Office bearer of the Association Arati Patrame was present at the press conference.
