Mangalore: Corporation Bank NRI Branch Celebrates 104th Founders Day of Bank

Mangalore, Mar 13: Corporation Bank NRI-Jeppu branch in the city celebrated the 104th Founders Day of the bank on Thursday March 12 in a fitting way. It distributed sweets to the inmates of St Joseph's Prashanth Niwas (Ashram) Sisters of Charity, Jeppu in the city on the occasion.

The bank was formed by a small group led by philanthropist Haji Abdulla at Udupi on March 12, 1906 in the name, ‘Canara Banking Corporation Udipi Ltd.  The bank, started with a small beginning, driven by the aim to encourage the habit of saving and providing banking services to all classes of people, has grown big in all spheres, from Rs 38, 13 Annas and two Pies on the beginning day, to over one lac crore rupees today.  The bank has made giant strides not only in deposit mobilization, advances, foreign exchange and other portfolios but also in adopting modern technology for providing fast, efficient services to its clientele.

Senior manager of the  branch N L Bhat  said that the Founders Day gives them an opportunity to take a pledge to tread in the path shown by the visionaries who built the bank and guided it through the years.
