Bantwal, Mar 13: In relation to the assault on the local municipality chief officer Shivalinga Kondadaguli, the Bantwal policemen have arrested an accused.

Chandrashekhar, a localite, was arrested and produced in the court on Thursday March 12. He has been remanded to judicial custody.

When the chief officer and other municipal employees were removing the banners and buntings put up at the town by pass road on the night of Wednesday march 11 under instructions from the election commission and the district deputy commissioner, a gang had assaulted the chief officer.

Injured Shivalinga is being treated in the local hospital.
