Mangalore, Mar 16: N Srinivas Prabhu (65), a Konkani and Kannada writer and organizer, breathed his last after suffering cardiac arrest at his residence in the city on Sunday March 15. He is survived by wife, a son, daughter and son-in-law.

Prabhu had worked in Syndicate Bank at various places before retiring. He had worked as the secretary of Konkani Bhasha Mandal. He also was the president of Karavali Sahitya Vedike and Mangalore taluk unit president of ‘Chutuku Sahitya Parishat'.  He had earned several awards including the district Rajyotsava award. His habit of moving about barefoot had earned him the name, ‘barefoot literary campaigner' from his affectionate fans.

Organizing of literary and poetic sessions was his passion.  Prabhu had been elected as the president of the National Environment and Wildlife Lovers Union Mangalore in the afternoon on Sunday.

MLA Yogish Bhat, Basti Vaman Shenoy, Konkani Sahitya Academy member N Venkatesh Baliga, Karnataka Sahitya Parishat DK district president Pradip Kumar Kalkura and many others have condoled his death.
