Faithful observation of Palm Sunday with devotion at Bantwal Church

Bantwal, Apr 14: Marking the commencement of the Holy Week, the devotees of Bantwal Parish celebrated Palm Sunday with religious fervour here on April 14. Thousands of Devotees carrying palm leaves held a procession from Cross Hill to Infant Jesus Church, Modankap.

Palm Sunday marks the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, where his disciples gave him a warm welcome by waving palm leaves, a gesture to signify the victory of good over evil. Palm Sunday also signifies the beginning of the Holy week.

The procession was followed by the Holy Eucharistic celebration led by Fr Ronald Serrao, professor, Jeppu Seminary. Fr Walter D’mello, parish priest, Fr Ashwin Crasta, assistant parish priest were the co-celebrants.

The devotees took part in the celebration meditating upon the suffering of Jesus Christ on the way to his crucifixion.
