Mangaluru, Apr 17: MLC C M Ibrahim said on Tuesday, April 17 said that UPA never used the issue of surgical strikes for political gains like the NDA is reportedly doing.
Addressing media here Ibrahim said, "Surgical strike is the internal matter of army which is confidential. Surgical strike was not started after Modi came to power. Wars against Pakistan took place even earlier. Modi has misused the army’s internal matter. That is why Yeddyurappa passed remarks that BJP will win 22 seats through airstrike. During UPA tenure, 27 surgical strikes took place, which we never used for political gains. BJP riles up sensitive issues and plays political games through it.
“None of the BJP candidates ask to vote for them, but ask votes for Modi. In North Karnataka, instead of chanting Modi, people say ‘Hogi Hogi’ (Go Go). In BJPs manifesto, they only mention about Ram Mandir. During Siddaramaiah’s time, we have fulfilled all the promises made in the manifesto. Congress is the one who give rice and milk to the poor. A poor man can fill his stomach with Rs 10.
"Modi has 56 inch chest and that is why the price of petrol, diesel and gas cylinder skyrocketed. Manmohan Singh had only 40 inches’ chest and hence the prices of all essential commodities was low. Those who criticise Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru are not anti-nationals or traitors, but those who criticise Modi are labelled as anti-nationals and traitors. Nowadays, only Modi’s and Amit Shah’s photo can be seen in the posters. There is not a single photo of Advani and Vajpayee. I am confident that Modi will not become prime minister again. There will be a coalition government in the centre and in the state JD(S)-Congress will win with high majority.
