Chitradurga: Three die as Tempo Traveller rams into stranded tempo

Chitradurga, Apr 23: Three persons lost their lives and six others suffered injuries, after a lorry hit a tempo that had been stranded by the roadside after one of its tyres burst. The accident happened in the early hours of Monday April 23 near JMIT Circle in the town.

Those who lost their lives in the accident were Kartik Gowda (20), Harsha (20) , and Srini (20) all from Bengaluru. They were seated in the passenger vehicle. They were final year B Com degree course students of Vijaya College, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru.

13 students had undertaken trip to Gokarna from Bengaluru by a Tempo Traveller vehicle. They left Bengaluru on April 19. When returning to Bengaluru after their trip, a tyre of their vehicle burst near the city after which a lorry hit it from behind, causing deaths of young college students.

The police have registered a case and investigation has been undertaken.
