Mangaluru, Apr 26: Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, through a letter addressed to the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday April 24, has drawn his attention to the fact that since the evening of April 22, 2019, Tar balls are being washed ashore at Panambur beach continuously since the evening of April 22 this year.

Fishermen from all along the coast have made similar observation. The entity has requested the deputy commissioner to look into the matter and ask the agencies like Coast Guard, New Mangalore Port Trust and Pollution Control Board to take necessary action to see that environment damage controlled. It also said that the Tar balls can adversely affect the beach and fishing activity.

Chief executive officer of the project, Yathish Baikampady, has also urged the deputy commissioner to identify the perpetrators of this phenomenon, book them for the offence, and initiate steps that are necessary to stop such things from happening.
