Udupi: Sri Kashi Math Honours Talented Students

Udupi, Mar 28: Talented students were felicitated at the Shrivaradendra Kala Mandir of Lakshmi Venkatesh Temple, Udupi, on Friday March 27.

The event was organized by the welfare fund of the Sri Kashi Math Samsthan on the occasion of ‘Chandramana Ugadi’.

Speaking on the occasion, Sandhya S Pai, managing editor, ‘Taranga’ said that the students must follow the guidance of elders and adopt it to give importance to values in life.

“During the Mughal rule, women and girls were harassed in society due to social and historical reasons. Systems like child marriage and ‘Sati’ were a drawback to the development of women”, she said.

Pai added that it was praiseworthy that a large number of students among those felicitated were girls.

Satish Pai and Sandhya Pai, managing director, Manipal Media Network, honoured 53 talented students of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district.

Koteshwar Shridhar Kamath, president, temple committee, congratulated them.

K Devdas Shanbhag, vice-president, welfare fund, welcomed the gathering. P V Shenoy, treasurer, proposed the vote of thanks.

Dinesh Shenoy, secretary, briefed about the information and rules of the fund on the occasion.

Later, a saxophone programme by Anjali was also staged.
