Kundapur, Mar 31: Addressing a press conference held at the local Press Club recently, V M Kumaraswamy, president of 'EE-Kavi', an international forum for Kannada protagonists said, the state government is duty-bound to develop Kannada software by appointing software producers. This is very much necessary to spread the fragrance of this classical language through the length and breadth of the country and the world, he felt.

Regretting that the Sarojini Mahishi report on the subject was gathering dust, he pointed out that because of this callous neglect, 80% of the rural youth are jobless in Karnataka. As the government neglected to implement the recommendations of the Nanjundappa Commission, north Karnataka is left in the lurch and utterly neglected, he rued.

He predicted that the coming days would be still harder for the people, especially those living in rural regions of north Karnataka, despite the initiatives being taken and the interest shown by ‘EE Kavi’ international forum, to adopt the least developed villages and their ill-equipped schools, as bureaucrats in government offices have been showing little enthusiasm in implementing the scheme. The efforts made by the Forum for adopting the Keradi school of Kundapur taluk since the last six months were brought to naught by the callous behavior of the government officials, he explained. The documents and records maintained by EE-Kavi will speak for themselves, to prove the apathy of government officials, he added.

The EE Kavi Institute was founded in the year 2004 and its presence is being felt in eleven districts and the remaining eighteen districts would also be covered within a short period, he explained.

U S Shenoy, Kiran C V, Sandhya, Sheela Chandrashekher and Ramananda Kamat were present at the meet.
