Puttur: 'DVS Diverted Rs 75 Lac from MP's Fund to RSS Office'

Puttur, Apr 2: Swabhimani Vedike vice-president M B Vishwanath Rai has accused MP and state BJP president D V Sadanand Gowda of misusing the Local Area Development Scheme funds allotted to him, by diverting Rs 75 lac to Keshavasmriti Samvardhana Samiti, which is the Mangalore office of Rashtreeya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) during the last five years.

Speaking at a press conference held here on Wednesday April 1, Rai said, the objective of RSS is organizing of Hindus. Deviating from the stated objective, it has been indulging in splitting the Hindus, behaving in an authoritarian manner, interfering in political issues, wielding clout in Campco which has responsibilities towards its shareholders and general public and misuse of government funds. The RSS leaders seem to be suffering from selective amnesia, he criticized.

"D V Sadanand Gowda, who had warned of taking up a strong agitation if a day-train does not run between Mangalore and Bangalore by January 31 this year, has driven away his train towards Udupi-Chikmagalur," he ridiculed.

Accusing Sadanand Gowda of not executing any noteworthy development projects in his constituency, he also said Gowda even failed to take part in the proceedings of the Lok Sabha properly. As he failed to do justice to the position he held, he has escaped to Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency, he felt. Recalling that Gowda had earlier compared the party workers in several meetings of party activists, to 'Eveready Batteries' because of their long life, Rai said just like the batteries, Gowda throws away workers after using them. As realization about this reality is setting in among the BJP workers now, an exodus of workers has begun towards the Vedike, he claimed.

He predicted a drubbing for the BJP this time, as the people are hell bent on teaching it a lesson for sinking its ideals and following in the footsteps of parties that they had rejected earlier. Ram Bhat will file his nomination as the Jan Sangh candidate on the Rama Navami day (April 3), Rai explained.

Vedike general secretary Amala Ramachandra, vice-presidents Banari Gopalakrishna Bhat and Ramachandra Gowda and leader Ravikiran Nelapparu were present at the press conference.
