Kundapur: 'Even Hundred Raghavendras Cannot be Match for Bangarappa'

Kundapur, Apr 3: "Yeddyurappa, who kept harping on the family politics being practiced by other parties, has bared his real colours, by making his own son a candidate for Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency. Hundreds of people like Raghavendra cannot be a match for the stature and personality of Bangarappa," said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president D K Shiv Kumar, heaping lavish praise on the septuagenarian leader, fielded by the Congress from Shimoga constituency.

He was speaking after inaugurating a convention of Congress youth workers, organized at Byndoor J N R Kalamandir on Thursday April 2, under the joint aegis of Byndoor Block Congress Committee and Vandse zonal Congress committee.

"The BJP has totally sidelined the issue of development, as it is busy with Operation Kamala. Under the chief ministership of S M Krishna, the government had attracted private investment to the tune of Rs 25,000 crore to the state, providing employment to lacs of youth. But, not a single company came to Karnataka after the BJP came to power. The BJP has forgotten the promises made in its manifesto like providing rice at two rupees a kilogram to people, providing employment to the youth, ensuring uninterrupted power etc. This election will teach a fitting lesson to the BJP that has stooped to the level of luring rural workers of other parties by offering money," he said in an extended tongue-lashing of the BJP.

In his address, Congress Lok Sabha candidate S Bangarappa said that the state is covered by the dust of the mining lords at present and predicted, that the BJP's tactics of buying legislators by paying them hefty sums will boomerang on itself.  "I am prepared for an open discussion on nuclear deal with the BJP leaders. I can talk to leaders like Advani but not with Yeddyurappa and his cronies, as they do not have any other knowledge except indulging in low level politics," he said.

Ex-MLA Kumar Bangarappa, MLC Pratapchandra Shetty, district Congress president M D Gafoor, ex-MLA Gopal Poojary, Shimoga MLA Swamiraj and various other leaders were present.
