Mangalore: Ship Smashes Trawl Boat - Loss Estimated at Eight Lac Rupees

Mangalore, Apr 4: A Mangalore-based trawl boat was hit by a ship near Kasargod here on Thursday April 2. The boat, 'A B Fisheries' owned by Prabhakar Suvarna from Mangalore Bengre, which was involved with fishing, was hit by the ship.

The accident occured at around 4 am. The container ship which hit the boat, moved ahead without stopping. Eight fishermen in the boat were saved by people from the other fishing boats. The boat suffered extensive damages to the extent of around six lac rupees, while fish catch worth about two lac also was lost, the boat owner said.
