Karwar: BJP Candidate Denies Violating Code of Conduct

Karwar, Apr 4: In a reply sent to the Election Commission principal secretary Tapas Kumar, Karwar constituency BJP Lok Sabha candidate Anant Kumar Hegde has contended that he has said nothing that violated the code of conduct.

On April 1, the Election Commission had served notice on Anant, seeking his explanation on his alleged statement that ‘it would be difficult for the Muslims to celebrated Eid if that community did not stop hooliganism’. The Election Commission said, the above statement violated the Code of Conduct.

Anant in his reply said, he had gone to Bangalore on March 19 and had returned on the March 22 and that he is prepared to furnish relevant records in support of this claim. He clarified that he was not in Mundagodu on the March 19.
