Udupi: Thieves Decamp with Cash, Ornaments Worth Rs 3.25 Lac

Udupi, Apr 6:  On the night of Saturday April 4, thieves entered the house of Yadava Bhat in Kunjakatte, Perdoor in the taluk and made him poorer by Rs 3.25 lac.

When the thieves came calling, Yadav Bhat and his wife were at home. Both of them were sleeping in one of the rooms, when the robbers came in by removing the roof tiles of another room.  The old couple came to know of the theft only after waking up on Sunday morning.

In a complaint filed with Hiriyadka police station, Bhat said, apart from cash amounting to Rs 8,000, the thieves had taken away gold ornaments, an idol made of five metals, electronic equipments etc., totally valued at Rs 3.25 lac.

It is analyzed that the thieves knew that the old couple lived alone at home, as their children live in different places. A case has been registered in Hiriyadka police station.
