Udupi, Apr 6: "Disturbances and frictions are taking place in the society because of the lack of mutual trust. We have to develop the habit of loving and reposing total faith on every one else, to come out of this situation," advised Jagadatmananda Swamiji of Ramakrishna Sharadashram, Ponnampet.

He was speaking after taking part in a function organized by Ambalpady Lord Janardhan Mahakali Temple here, for disbursing donations on Sunday April 5.

The Swamiji noted, the youths of today have been distancing themselves from spiritualism and traditional observations. "They feel western culture is supreme. They are losing devotional instincts and faith in the traditions and thus spoiling our culture," he lamented.

"Humans should necessarily make efforts to be natural, simple, innocent, honest, close to others and develop qualities of faith in values and concern for the plights of others. This will result in a sense of fulfillment in each individual and as a result, social peace settles down automatically. Culture also gets protected in the bargain," Jagadatmananda said.

Bannanje Govindacharya, who was the guest, asked the temple managements to come forward to protect the society, which is on the fast track towards cultural abyss. "The temples should take up projects that are useful for the people at large. The devotion of the people visiting the temples should be routed for optimum results. If the temples extend help to those who are facing difficulties, the very purpose of setting up temples get fulfilled," he analyzed.

Tulu Koota president and well known orthopaedist Dr Bhaskaranand Kumar asked people to find joy in sharing what they have, with others. He narrated an incident he was witness to, in which a beggar donated what he had, to another beggar. He wished that every one will practice this quality.

Temple trustee Dr Vijay Ballal in his introductory address, informed that the late Annaji Ballal, previous trustee, had started the practice of giving annual donations for various causes, and that the present administration is following on these footsteps. He said, a total of Rs 22 lac had been given as donations for various religious, academic, social service, cultural organizations and sick people during the last year.

Tripura Sundari Ballal rendered the prayer. Dr Vijay Ballal welcomed. Raghavendra Kramadhari presented the programme.
