Udupi: Rationalists Forum Honours C N Shetty on his 75th Birthday

Udupi, Apr 6: A felicitation programme to honour veteran rationalist C N Shetty was held at Hotel Kidiyoor here on Sunday April 5.

The event was organized by Udupi District Rationalists Forum.

Speaking on the occasion, veteran journalist Sanat Kumar, Bangalore expressed his disappointment at the fact that the politicians of the country still rely on superstitions and blind faith, before taking any decision.

The situation has deteriorated to such an extent that the Chief Minister of the state refers to the Hindu almanac to avoid Rahu Kalam before taking charge of his position. Scientists too referred to it before the launch of the satellite, he said.

Felicitating C N Shetty on his 75th birthday celebrations, renowned columnist Prof H L Keshav Murty said, Shetty has inspired the youths to fight for the welfare of the people without having regard to their age.

D A Lakshninarayan, Human Right activist delivered the felicitation address.

Sriram Diwan of Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike welcomed the gathering, compered and proposed vote of thanks.

Later a musical programme by Dr Shashikant and group was presented.

    I saluate Mr.C.N.Shetty for his outstanding service to the soceity,his fearless approach against communal forces and say no die attaitude againist corrupt officials,Superstious beliefs and moreover his high calibre Intelectuallity.He and other like minded Gentleman, who brought some kind of relief in the troubled atmosphere of Twin Districts.He always stood and supported the down trodden in the society and never compromised with his high values. I wish him all the very best from my heart.
