Rahul Allegedly Flouts Model Code of Conduct

TNN

Lucknow, Apr 7: After cousin Varun, big brother Rahul Gandhi violated provisions of the model code of conduct. A common man in Sultanpur district has  lodged a complaint against the Congress heir with office of chief electoral officer on Monday. According to the complaint, Rahul allegedly flouted the model code of conduct on April 4 while filing his nomination. The CEO office has summoned a report from RK Singh, Sultanpur district magistrate in this regard.

The complaint reportedly said that about eleven persons accompanied Rahul while he went to the returning officer's office to file his nomination. However, as per the rule, only four persons besides the candidate are allowed inside the returning officer's office.

"Maximum number of persons who would be allowed to enter the office of returning/additional returning officers (RO/ARO) at the time of filing nomination has been limited to five (including the candidate)," said the ECI's handbook for candidates. The clause added that the number of persons was restricted to ensure general order at the offices of the RO/ARO.

Confirming the news, additional CEO Amrit Abhijat said, "Future course of action will be decided after we go through the DM's report."
