Patriotism is not taught. It is inculcated through ethics and values. No body taught Bhagat Singh about patriotism. Importantly, our politicians, bureaucrats, the police force, Govt. babus, etc, where ethics and values have failed, need to be taught A B C of patriotism.

Postpone it after the elections are complete. For the youngsters there is a whole year before them. There is no hurry. Instead, teach them to vote sensibly and vote they must. That is the need of the hour.
