Udupi, Apr 20: President of the BJP state Yuva Morcha Girish Mattennavar expressed the opinion that the naxal crisis is not born out of socio-economic problems, but is the brain child of a terror plan hatched by China and such other forces for misleading the youngsters.

Speaking to the media men here on Sunday April 19, he revealed that the Yuva Morcha of the BJP will involve itself actively with campaigning for the party candidate in the naxal-infested villages at the foot of the Western Ghat.  "The campaigning will be initiated in Edu village of Karkala taluk. We have chosen this village as the naxal encounter that occurred here was the first of its kind in the state. On Monday April 20, two motor bike rallies with 30 bikers each will move in the villages in the region to seek votes," he explained.

Mattennavar called upon the naxals to shed their arms and join the mainstream. Instead of threatening people, they should use the power of the ballot to bring changes in the society, he said. He added that his party is totally opposed the naxal plans of creating red corridors in the hilly terrain. He asked the naxals to start movements backed by social causes like the ones launched by Vinobha Bhave, Sunderlal Bahuguna and Medha Patkar to get what they want. “Bloodshed will not take us anywhere,” he warned.

Party activists Jeevan Kumar Shetty, Mahesh Thakur, Katpady Shankar Poojary and others were present at the press conference.
