Karwar, Apr 20: A youth met watery grave at Om Beach located in the pilgrimage centre Gokarna in the district on the evening of Saturday April 18. His body was recovered at the beach on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Suman Reddy (21), a student of S V M Engineering College, Bangalore. It is learnt, he was a member of the group of students that came on a tour of the coastal districts after the final examinations.
The group of 13 students, who had stayed in a local lodge, had ventured into the Om Beach on Saturday evening. While taking bath in the sea, Suman was washed away into the sea due to the force of the waves. His friends launched a search for him with the help of locals but failed to find him. His body was found at the Om Beach on the evening of Sunday April 19.
Gokarna police have registered a case.
