Bantwal, Apr 21: "B Janardhan Poojary is one of a handful of honest politicians you can find in the country. His honesty, his concern for the welfare of the poor, people-centric schemes he launched for the people and the achievements and policies of the Congress party will ensure his victory," said Dakshina Kannada district Congress president B Ramanath Rai, with confidence.

Addressing a press conference held at B C Road on Monday April 20, Rai said Poojary had worked for the downtrodden even while working as an advocate in Bantwal before entering politics. "He used to spend from his pocket for the poor people. He attended parliament regularly and actively discussed ways and means to uplift poor people. The district is now agog with an environment in which people want to elect Poojary with a view to achieve integrated development of the district," he claimed.

Claiming that many schemes implemented by the Congress have been supporting poor families even now, he criticized the BJP for failing to implement its manifesto and its inability to bring to practice what it promised. The plans of the BJP to corner votes basing on the issues of religion, God etc., will not succeed for long, he opined.

Party leaders B H Khader, Padmashekhar Jain, K H Abubakker, Ganesh Amtoor etc were present at the press conference.
