Karwar: BSP Candidate Withdraws in Favour of Alva

Daijiworld Media Network - Karwar (SP)

Karwar, Apr 22: Dr Basavaraj Hadapad, who had entered the fray as the candidate of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for the Lok Sabha election from Uttar Kannada constituency, has withdrawn from the contest.

Through a press release, Hadapad said, he took this decision, as the top leaders of his party have not evinced interest in meeting the voters of the constituency and that the party has thrown to winds its stated principles. "As my conscience does not permit me to continue as the party candidate under the current situation, I am withdrawing," he clarified.

At the same time, he said he will be actively supporting Congress candidate Margaret Alva and requested all the office-bearers, activists and the fans of the BSP to cast their votes in favour of Alva.
