Sullia: Heavy Rains: Tree Falls on House in Kallugundi

Sullia, Apr 23: Kallugundi village near here received heavy hailstorm on Wednesday April 22. Due to the winds coupled with rains, a tree got uprooted and fell on the house belonging to Balakrishna Doddadka in Goonadka near Kallugundi. However, the family members escaped unhurt.

Several roadside trees also were uprooted, creating bottlenecks for the traffic. The departments swung into action to clear the roads immediately. In the meantime, rain coupled with thunder and lightning  soaked Sullia and Kadaba in Dakshina Kannada district apart from Madikeri, Virajpet and Kushalnagar in Kodagu district.

In other parts of the twin-districts, the rains were restricted to a drizzle in several parts. Although the climate was cloudy, Mangalore did not get any rain except intermittent light drizzle in some parts.
