Mangalore: Decks Cleared for Sonia Address in Nehru Maidan

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 23: The issue of allowing Nehru Maidan for the use of Congress Party on Sunday April 26 has been resolved amicably. National president of the Congress Party and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is set to address a public meeting at the said venue on that day.

It may be recalled that the Congress Party leaders had found to their chagrin that the BJP had already booked Nehru Maidan for Sunday, in expectation of the arrival of its top leaders and the Congress leaders were in a dilemma. The BJP had booked the Maidan on both April 26 and 27 for their use.

Leaders of both the parties discussed the issue in the office of the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district here on Wednesday April 22. Congress sources said, the issue has been settled and that the Maidan will now be booked in the name of Congress Party for Sunday.
