Mangalore, Apr 23: Karnataka State unit president of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) N M Adyantaya informed that the INTUC will work to its full potential for the success of the Congress party in the general election.

"In the last five years, the UPA government headed by Manmohan Singh worked wholeheartedly for the welfare of the working class. The UPA government gets credit for striving to ensure that the globalization does not adversely affect the working class. Hence, all the people belonging to the working class should support the Congress Party candidates," he urged at a press conference held here on Tuesday April 21.

He claimed, that the credit for providing medical aid, educational expenses reimbursement and house construction facilities to the bidi and other workers of the unorganized class, goes to the UPA government.  The Congress alone can protect the interests of the working class. During the last six decades, this party affected several legal amendments for providing maximum security to the workers. Hence the workers should support candidates fielded by the Congress Party, he opined.

INTUC district president Rakesh Malli, state secretary Nagesh, district secretary Shashidhar Ambat and Umesh Kotian were present at the press conference.
