M’lore: Case against Renuka Chowdhury: Time for Filing Chargesheet Extended

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Apr 23: In the case filed by ex-mayor Ganesh Hosabettu and others against union minister Renuka Chowdhury for her comments of 'Talibanization' and 'Communal divide' of the city following the pub attack, the court that had permitted filing of suit against the minister on February 20, had given a month's extension after the initial time given to the policemen expired on March 20. The time permitted to the city rural policemen to file a charge sheet against the minister has again been extended till May 4 this month, at their request.

The rural police had pleaded for extension of time and the JMFC court granted only two weeks extension this time. There has been no progress since the case was filed, and in view of the election duties, the policemen may not be able to make any headway even during the extension of time now permitted.
