Mangalore: Kalkura Foundation Honours Dr Mukund Prabhu

Mangalore, Apr 23: Rashtrakavi Manjeshwara Govinda Pai Memorial Day was observed at Town Hall on Wednesday April 22.

The event was organized by Kalkura Foundation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prabhakar Joshi, critic, wished that the country will see more persons of Dr Mukund Prabhu’s calibre and eminence getting involved with historical research so that this field gets enriched further. He expressed happiness at the fact that a great person like Prabhu was being felicitated on Govinda Pai Memorial Day.

“Apart from getting formal education, Prabhu rose to fame through his interest and unstinted work in the non-traditional education in subjects like history, coins, architecture and diamonds. He was attracted towards the study of history while working in soap factory,” he divulged.

Dr Mukund Prabhu was honoured with a memento and citation.

Presiding over the function, Harikrishna Punaroor, Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president said that Mukund Prabhu is the backbone and guide to the field of literature.

In addition to Prabhu, Yakshagana artiste Ananta Krishna Hande was also felicitated on the occasion.

Dr Amruta Someshwar, litterateur, Dr Prabhakar Joshi, Dr Chinnappa Gowda, Dr Surendra Rao and Janardhana Hande were present on the occasion.

Later a Yakshagana performance presented on the occasion succeeded in drawing praise from the audience.
