Bantwal, Apr 28: "The Congress Party, which has ruled the country and the states for long, will rise to power once again after the election. People will vote for the Congress, considering its achievements. The people should not lend an ear to the malicious propaganda indulged in by the BJP activists, nor will the Congress Party be frustrated or disheartened by them," said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R V Deshpande.

He was addressing an election meeting held by the party at B C Road on Sunday April 27.

Manmohan Singh is in no way a weak leader as some quarters make him to be, but a statesman. This has been proved by his shrewd handling of tough situations," he added.

Leader of the opposition in the assembly Mallikarjun Kharge, former chief minister M Veerappa Moily, B A Moidin, district Congress president B Ramanath Rai, Block Congress president Chandrahas Karkera, party leaders Ashwini Kumar Rai, Chandrahas Shetty Bolantoor, Sadashiv Ullal, K Harikrishna Bantwal, B K Idinabba, B H Khader, Rajashekhar Nayak and others were present.
