Mangalore: Sheni, Inspiration for Young Artistes - Dr Joshi

Mangalore, Apr 27: A symposium on veteran Yakshagana artiste and scholar Sheni Gopalakrishna Bhat and his oratory skills, was held at Panambur near here on Sunday April 26.

The event was jointly organized by Sheni Commemoration Programme Valedictory Committee, Sri Nandaneshwara Temple, NMPT Yakshagana Kala Mandali and Panambur Padmanabaiah Shanbhog Birth Centenary Committee.

Presiding over the programme, renowned Yakshagana scholar Dr M Prabhakar Joshi said that the study on Sheni Gopalkrishna Bhat's oratory skills and styles can give new inspiration to the young artistes.

Well known artistes like M L Samaga, Sarpangala Eshwar Bhat and D L G Bhat Kumta delivered speeches on the rare qualities of Yakshagana scholar Sheni.

Vasudev Ranga Bhat welcomed the gathering. Seraje Sitaram Bhat coordinated the programme. P Madhukar Bhagawat, convener, proposed vote of thanks.

Keshav Shetty and team rendered the invocation in yakshagana style.

Sheni Gopal Krishna Bhat Trust honorary president Harikrishna Punaroor and P Ratnakar Rao, Panambur Sri Nandaneshwara temple managing trustee were present.
