Mangalore: Kabaddi, Volleyball Matches Part of ‘Sporting Champions Trophy—2009’

Mangalore, Apr 27:
The ‘Sporting Championship Trophy—2009’, an inter-district Kabaddi, belt area Kabaddi, and volleyball tournament organized as part of the silver jubilee celebration of Ullal Sporting Association, Ullal Sports Club, was held at the Hazrat Sayed Madani ground Ullal here, recently.
 
The event was jointly organized by the club and Dakshina Kannada Mangalore Rural Amateur Kabaddi Association.

The Kabaddi tournament was inaugurated by Sadananda Bangera, president, Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha. Praising the club for organizing such programmes he said that this would encourage communal harmony in the vicinity as sports are a symbol of peace.
 


Amarnath Rai, president, D K Amateur Kabaddi Association, inaugurated the court. Ullal municipality chairman U A Ismail unfurled the sports flag.
 
Veeranjaneya Vyayama Shale Sundari Bhag emerged as champions in volleyball and belt area kabaddi tournament, while Ullal Friends were adjudged runners-up. Vijay Friends Mangalore lifted the winners’ trophy while Veera Maaruthi Hosangadi, Sports Promoters Mangalore and Azaz Sports Club Kalladka, filled other positions.
 
Kabaddi and football players Vijayananda Shenoy, Keshav Pangaal, Harish Ullal, Praveen Raj, Rajesh, Haneef, Monappa Kulai, and Ashfaque Ismail were conferred prizes on the occasion.

The national child award winner master Muhammad Shammaz Abbas was also felicitated by the club.
 
U K Monu Kanachur, Annaiah Kulal, K T Suvarna, Prakash U S, Alfred D’Souza, and  State Amateur Kabaddi Association vice-president Sadananda Shetty were also present.
