Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Apr 28: Vithaldas Bhandarkar (38), owner of Ujire Space Cable Network, entrepreneur and son of Sri Ganesh Prasad Driving School Pandurang Bhandarkar, committed suicide at his home on Monday April 27, by hanging himself through a white shawl in his bed room. He is survived by wife, a son, a daughter, parents and three brothers.

There was no one when the Bhandarkar chose to leave the world. Vithaldas was a soft-spoken, friendly person and it was difficult for the people to believe that he could decide to commit suicide. The incident came to light when a worker of the Cable Network came home after his repeated calls were not answered by Bhandarkar.

On Sunday, his wife, son and daughter had gone elsewhere to attend an auspicious occasion and till Sunday night, Vithaldas was with his friends. The family did not face any financial problems. It is now being suspected that some family problems might have been the reason for this tragic act. On a complaint filed by his elder brother Ramadas Bhandarkar, Beltangady policemen have registered a case.

MLA Vasant Bangera, zilla panchayat member Shahul Hamid, Block Congress president Harish Kumar and several others visited Bhandarkar's home to console his family members.

He is a close friend of my brother and I was really shocked to know that he committed suicide. He was one of the best personalities in Ujire locality and well known for his friendliness and helpfulness especially with minorities. May Almighty God give enough strength to his family to overcome this tragedy.
