Beltangady, Apr 28: "Even if Mahatma Gandhi was to spring back to life and approach a political party today, he would not have been able to secure a ticket. Because, getting a party ticket requires one to shell out large amounts of money," opined Kannada movie director T N Seetaram.

He was speaking after taking part in the 'Naturopathy Treatment annual day function' held at Ujire SDM College on Monday April 27.

"Naturopathy system of treatment works to imbibe human qualities in a person, in addition to driving away diseases. This system relies on the importance of exercising control over body, mind and senses as against the present-day trend of getting swept away by luxuries and desires. The visual media that is dividing the minds by selling them dreams of amassing wealth have been laying a strong foundation for a society that aims at leading a luxurious life at any cost, he explained. He hailed Dr Veerendra Heggade for taking up a programme titled 'back to nature', a system of Naturopathy treatment meant to reverse the evil designs of the drug mafia by providing natural treatment to drugs-affected people.

Another chief guest, cine director, writer Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar expressed his regret about the fact that the villages are now on the fast-track of getting eliminated. "We are under the illusion now, that other than money, nothing surprises or holds us in awe," he noted.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade who presided, said that even the government has started recognizing naturopathy system of treatment. As a result, this system is in good demand, he said.

SDM group of educational institutions vice president Prof S Prabhakar was present. College principal Dr Prashant Shetty welcomed. Chief medical officer of the hospital Dr Y Rudrappa proposed vote of thanks.
