Bantwal: Thieves Strike during Day - Rob Gold Jewellery worth Rs 2.5 Lac

Bantwal, Apr 28: On Monday April 27, thieves entered a house located in Modankap of B Mooda village in the taluk and took away gold jewellery worth about Rs 2.5 lac in broad daylight.

Ravindra Shetty, a teacher by profession, came to know of the incident, after he returned home in the evening. Both Shetty and his wife had been to a marriage function, leaving home in the morning. A function was also going on in a house located opposite their house. In the midst of this din, the rear window of the house was broken open by the thieves, by using iron rods and boulders. They then broke open the steel cabinets in the house, and stole about 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery found therein.

It is suspected, that the theft took place between 10 am and 3 pm. Bantwal policemen said that the sniffer dog led them towards Pallamajal. Station house officer Viveanand and staff of Bantwal town police station inspected the spot and carried out inquiry.
