Udupi, Apr 29:
A guided tour of the Manipal University campus was conducted here on Tuesday April 28.

This was done especially for people who have always wanted to know all about the University, but did not get an opportunity to do so.

This campus tour by bus will now be a daily feature to showcase the university’s facilities, infrastructure, and other unique features.  Pro-chancellor Dr H S Ballal and Manipal Institute of Communications (MIC) director Dr M V Kamath flagged-off the first bus from the Manipal.edu building.

Speaking on the occasion, registrar Dr G K Prabhu said that many people had expressed their desire to see the university.  “It was therefore decided to start conducted tours with trained guides”, he added.

There will be two trips every day with the first one of two hours from 10 am to 12 noon.  In the afternoon, it will be for one hour starting at 3 pm.

The trips will take visitors to different locations of the university. “While it will essentially be the different institutions, the health sciences library and anatomy museum in the morning, it will focus on hostels, labs, and classrooms in the afternoon, keeping student needs in mind,” added Dr Prabhu.

Those interested in availing this facility can register their names with assistant director N Babanna, public relations, on 0820-2922390.
