Udupi, Apr 29: Junior Swamiji of Udupi Pejawar Mutt Sri Vishwaprasannateertha said the trials and tribulations in one's life ease with the regular chanting of Bhajans. The eulogies of the Lord sung with devotional fervour help people earn His grace, he explained.

He was delivering the benedictory speech at the religious meeting convened after the dedication of the renovated shrine of Sridevi Jnanodaya Panduranga Bhajana Mandir of Kodvaoor Kanangi near Malpe to the devotees, on Monday April 27.

"Devotion is the easiest mode available for the mankind to appease the Lord. The Lord is amenable to unbridled love and devotion for Him that are expressed through Bhajans.  Power and money fail to get connected to Him as the Lord does not get awed by the amount of wealth we possess. Bhajans are the easiest means to reach Him," he explained.

Entrepreneur Pramod Madhwaraj, who presided over the programme, noted that singing of Bhajans, which had been practiced by almost all the families in the past on a daily basis, has been on the wane with the increased advent of modernity. The elders should take the lead in providing guidance to the younger generation to revive this practice and take it further, he requested.

Chief guest, Ambalpady Lord Janardan and Goddess Mahakali temple trustee Dr Ni Bi Vijay Ballal, MLA K Raghupati Bhat, municipal councillor Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje etc were present.

On behalf of the shrine executive committee, the Swamiji honoured several people including Vittal Kunder Kalmadi, who has been serving poor patients with selflessness and Malpe Vishwanath Shenoy, who has earned the title, 'private traffic policeman of Malpe' as also those who contributed to the construction of the renovated shrine and some others. Bhajana Mandir committee president Purushottam and its Mmbai committee presidet Devaraj Bangera were also present.

Shrine renovation committee president Dasappa Putran welcomed. Sridhar Kanangi presented the report. Sudhakar Perampalli presented the programme.
