Mangalore, May 15:
The Democratic Youth Front of India (DYFI) and Students’ Federation of India (SFI) burned an effigy of the government on Thursday May 14, protesting the commercialization and selling of education indiscriminately.

The protest was held in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office and the protesters urged for the formation of a rule to help all students get seats in all colleges without the donation menace.

Muneer Katipalla, district president, DYFI, said, “The government, by allowing the private colleges to find their own way of selecting students, keeps students from economically weak backgrounds away from education. So, the government should make a policy of allowing 25 percent of students to be selected by the private institutions while others should be chosen through the government. It can allow the students from poor family backgrounds and meritorious students get the education of their dreams”, he said.

Prashanth Achar, district president of SFI, and Ramesh Kumar, secretary of  DYFI, also spoke and demanded that the government make a pro-poor students rule.

The protesters held placards that said, “Education is a constitutional right” and “Commercialization of education is denying education to poor”.

it is very sad indeed that when parents go for admissions the principals and heads of institutions do not give importance to marks scored by students but how much money the parents are capable of paying. Even institutions established in the name of charity squeez the parents.Education is for sale.

To add oil to fire, none of the India''s Politicians speak about quality University education to every citizen. They only talk about "NO" to English Language. Without English how our young generation will be competitive in the future world?? They say dont study English/dont study French, but they dont guarantee a suitable compensation to deserving students nor there is any resource to stop brain drain.

When, we Indian become a developed Nation?? What about Dr APJ Abdul Kalam''s vision about India?? Dear People wake up, help yourself and help your neighbour, let us build ourselves with one agenda, let us build the Nation.
