Karkala: Abbanadka Friends Club celebrates Kargil Victory Day

Karkala, Jul 26: Nehru Youth Centre, Udupi under union government’s ministry of youth affairs and sports celebrated the 20th anniversary of Kargil victory in association with Nandalike Abbanadka Friends Club through Swatchh Bharath internship programme in Belman on Friday July 26.

Club president Rajesh Kotian who planted a sapling said that sacrifices of several people are behind every achievement and success. 527 soldiers were martyred in the war against occupation of country’s border by Pakistan in 1999. More than 1350 soldiers were injured. The sapling is planted in memory of their bold fight.

Club convener Abbanadka V Poojary, programme director Abbanadka Sathish Poojary, former presidents Kasrabail Suresh Poojary and Anand Poojary, secretary Prashanth Poojary, vice president Harish Poojary, Abbanadka Suresh Poojary, Sunita Pinto and others were present.

A silent prayer was held for the martyrs.
