Mangaluru, Jul 26: Lions Club Balmatta held the installation ceremony of the new office bearers at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatta July 2. A total of five new members were inducted into Lionism.

Lions Club Balmatta held the installation ceremony of the newly elected team of new office bearers for the year 2019-20 with Ln Jerry Crasta as the president, Ln Jane Lobo as secretary and Ln Lisa D’Souza Mjf as treasurer. Introduction of PST was done by Ln Linet.
The installation officer Ln Dr Melwyn D’Souza Mjf inducted five new members into Lionism. The introduction of the new members was given by Ln Avil D’Souza. Incoming president Ln Jerry Crasta sponsored three members namely Ln Wilma, a teacher, Ln Lancy, a banker and Ln Stany Lasrado, former army and presently working for ICICI Prudential, immediate past president and this year zone chairperson for the region. Ln Simon Lobo sponsored Ln Noel Saldanha, a successful businessman of A M Aluminium and Glass and Ln Henry sponsored Pushparaj Shetty a successful businessman in the field of real estate business.
President George D’Souza Mjf, called a meeting to order. Ln Juliet read the Lions prayer, Ln Lancy Carlo read the flag salutation, Ln Lisa D’Souza Mjf read the code of ethics and Ln Noel F C Pinto Mjf introduced the installing officer Ln Melwyn D’Souza Mjf. The installing officer in his address spoke on the importance of the Lion Club Services in society and how they can help to build a better tomorrow.
The newly elected president Ln Jerry Crasta delivered his acceptance speech. As part of the service activities Ln Henry D’Souza Mjf donated Rs 30,000 to cancer patient, Ln Jane donated Rs 5,000 to Soumya for marriage expenses and Ln Jerry donated Rs 5,000 to Jairaj for education aid.

Club felicitation was done by RC Ln Venkatesh Baliga and II VDG Ln Vasanth Shetty Mjf.
The highlight of the programme was guest speaker Dr Jacob Crasta. His introduction was done by Ln Sandra Crasta. He spoke on the importance of tax reforms of Indian Government and its benefits to society.
The vote of thanks was done by Ln Jane.
The programme concluded by singing the National Anthem.
The president adjourned the meeting for fellowship and dinner.
