Mangaluru: KMC Hospital Attavar holds outreach medical camp organizers meet

Mangaluru, Jul 27: KMC Hospital, Attavar organized an Outreach Medical Camp Organizers Meet 2019 and felicitated Arogya Sevaks and social organizations aiding people to access quality and affordable healthcare at Sanjeevini Hall, KMC Attavar here on Saturday, July 27.

Deputy manager marketing Rakesh Darshan welcomed the gathering and said, “As per the Vision of our Founder, For a healthy society we need to eliminate illness, poverty and illiteracy. We cannot go to every village but some good-hearted people have joined hands with us to reach out to every village to eliminate illness. With the support of these people, KMC hospital organized 449 camps in year 2019. It is now our duty to felicitate them for their yeomen service”.

Speaking on the occasion Dr John T Ramapuram, medical superintendent, KMC Hospital Attavar said, “I have seen many people organize the camps with enthusiasm. They reach the venue early in the morning and set up the stage. I was really surprised to see their commitment in holding such camps in their respective areas and villages.”

Dr John Ramapuram further said, “We normally hold camps in the hospitals but holding camps in villages is quite different. It is a godly work and I salute all those who dedicated their time in helping the people who are deprived of medical facilities. I urge all of you to continue your good work. If you need any help we are always there at your service. This humanitarian work should continue. I would also like to thank the organizing team who have recognized the work of these social activists. In Dakshina Kannada, we do not see much poverty but in the rural areas there are many who are the victims of poverty and such people cannot afford medical treatment. In such a situation, KMC is helping people through organizing camps in villages.”

Vogga Muralidhar Prabhu, Shyam Sundar Bekal, Violet Pereira, and several social organisations were felicitated for their tremendous social service to the society.

Prajna Counselling Centre and Rotary Club of Bantwal were given the best camp organizers award. Camp co-ordinator of KMC Attavar.

Speaking on the occasion the camp coordinator, Herbert Pereira said, “Last year we organized 449 camps in various places and screened 1,22,984 patients out of which 1,850 patients were given further treatment at the KMC hospital Attavar.

“When we organized camps we received very good support from the organizations. I would like to thank all the organizations who have joined hands with us to make our mission successful,” he said.

Representatives from Rotary club, Lions club, Catholic Sabha, Spandana Mahila Gataka, Ayyappa Mandira Trust, SDM College NSS Unit and other organizations who through the WhatsApp group aid poor patients were felicitated on the occasion.

Dr. Surendra Kamath, head, department of Orthopaedics, Dr Gatha Upadyaya, head, department of Skin, Dr Sadashiv Rao, head, department of pediatric Surgery, Dr Prakash Saxena, head, department of Radiation Oncology, Dr Prahlad Kushtagi senior gynaecologist, Dr Nityananda Chouta, senior physician, Dr Manohar Pai, Dr Rahul Bhat, senior general surgeons, Dr Sindhu Kamath, chest physician, Dr Anand R, associate dean KMC, Gracy, nursing superintendent and Premalatha, head Human Resources KMC Attavar were present.
