Bengaluru: Unattended baggage creates furore at Kempegowda International airport

Bengaluru, Jul 28: Passengers travelling through Kempegowda International Airport in the city faced anxious moment on the morning of Saturday due to a luggage that was abandoned in the passenger waiting area.

The cause of the panic was the video that was done of the baggage by some passengers and spread on the social media as object that looks suspicious. Security personnel quickly cordoned off the area around the baggage and later cleared the same as not threatening.

The police at the airport clarified the issue and said that a passenger had gone to the washroom leaving his baggage at the waiting area. Since he did not turn up for a long time, the other passengers panicked and started making videos of the same and shared it on social media.

The CISF personnel quickly moved into action and also called in Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), who cleared the baggage of any threat and handed it over to the BIAL police.

In the meantime, the passenger, owner of the bag, that created the furore approached the police station inside the airport to file a complaint about his missing baggage. The police asked him to take care of his baggage in future and handed over the bag to him. But the social media was full of rumours till the afternoon of Saturday about the abandoned baggage.
