Mangaluru, Jul 30: Aatidonji Dina was showcased and celebrated at Amrita Vidyalayam Mangaluru on July 27. It upholds Tulunadu’s various traditions and delicacies during the season of Ashada. Several games of this tradition were conducted to introduce present generation to Tulunadu tradition. Games like broomstick making, kotigae (a form of making a basket out of jack fruit leaf for idli batter) were arranged. Authentic dishes were prepared by parents and teachers.

The chief guest of the day was Prakash Thuminad who has predominantly acted in Kannada and Tulu movies. He was overwhelmed to see how the school has managed to maintain the culture of the city which is fast racing towards westernization. He praised the school correspondent Brahmacharini Manglamrta Chaitanya and the management for conducting this event and said it was of utmost importance to keep the culture visible for the students with these kinds of events, before it vanishes.

Parents and students performed beautiful folk dances and songs depicting Aati Masa.

Principal RC Bhat and vice principal Anupama Rao thanked everyone who were a part of the cultural event in spite of their busy schedule.
