Udupi, Jul 30: “Aatidonji dina programmes are now trying to preserve the traditional food, culture and sports practiced during aati season. This should not be a celebration of one day. Our culture should live in our life,” said Gopal C Bangera, president Billava Seva sangha Shree Vithobha Bhajana Mandira, Ambalpady.

He addressed a gathering at the Aatidonji Dina programme organized by Billava Seva Sangha Ambalpady in association with the women’s unit on Sunday July 28.

Godavari Manjappa Poojary, Devaki K Kotian, Vasanthi R Poojary, Sunitha Shankar Poojary, Leelavathi Narayan Poojary, Malathi Madhav Poojary, Kalyani Ananad Kotian and Laxmi Shankar Poojary were honoured on the occasion for their selfless service in bhajan troupe.

Sandhya Prabhu, teacher Malpe Government High School gave detailed information about Ashadha season and the food habits practiced in this season.

Vijaya G Bangera, convener women’s unit presided over the function. Godavari Manjappa SUvarna, Devaki K Kotian, co-conveners Radhu Poojarty, A Shivakumar, vice president Krishna Kotian, chief secretary Dayananda A, treasurer Manjappa Suvarna Madhava Poojary, Kushal Kumar A Muddana Poojary Savita Santhosh and others were present on the occasion.

Members of women’s unit prepared delicious dishes of aati season. 42 varieties of aati dishes were served to the people.

Jayanthi Harish proposed the vote of thanks.

Lolakshi compered the programme.
