Beltangady, Jul 31: Punjalkatte station police sub inspector and staff intercepted a pick up vehicle No. KA18 A 5422 at Pandavarakallu junction, Badagakajekaru village here on July 29 and found that Kajekar, Bantwal resident Kasim (42) was transporting a buffalo in a cruel manner in the vehicle illegally for slaughter.

Police rescued the animal worth about Rs 20,000 and confiscated the vehicle worth about Rs four lacs. A police case under column 8.11 prevention of cruelty to animals under 66.192(A) IMV Act is registered in Punjalkatte police station in this connection.
