Bengaluru, Jul 31: Former minister H D Revanna, who was very much interested to become the chairman of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), is angered by the postponement of KMF election by the current government. He has filed a petition, seeking directions from the high court to the government to hold election as scheduled.

Eight persons including H D Revanna have moved the high court on the issue. The petition is yet to be taken up by the court, and in all likelihood it would be taken up either on Wednesday or Thursday.

The petitioners have sought stay order from the high court to the government's decision to postpone the election and directions to the principal secretary in the department of cooperation and the returning officers of KMF to go ahead with the election.

Revanna said that all preparations had been made to hold the election and election time table had been published. As per the schedule the election was to be held on July 29. The principal secretary in the department of cooperation issued orders postponing the said election on the day it was to be held. The petitioners said that the secretary does not have the power to meddle with the election process

Revanna said that he was the only nominee for the post of the chairman of KMF and therefore he had bright chances of getting elected. He has expressed the suspicion that the election was postponed by the government with the specific objective of robbing him of this opportunity.

In the petition, the petitioners have named six respondents including the principal secretary in the department of cooperation, cooperative election commissioner and others. They have sought instructions to returning officers for holding election without delay.
