Udupi: Various competitions to be held as part of Krishna Janmashtami from Aug 3 to 24

Udupi, Aug 2: On the occasion of Sri Krishna janmashtami, Paryaya Palimaru Math and Sri Krishna Math will organise various competitions from August 3 to 24,” said Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimaru Math in a media release.

He further said, 'There will have individual prizes for first, second and third winners, Rs 1,500, Rs 1,000 and Rs 750 respectively. For children tiger dance (without fancy dress) Rs 2,500, Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 for first, second and third prize winners respectively. Tiger dance competition, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 for first, second and third prize winners respectively.

Competitions are as following:

1. Essay Competition will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 3 pm at Madhwa Sabhangana, Sri Krishna math Udupi.

For primary school children, topic will be on celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami. For high school students, topic is message of Sri Krishnavathara.

One hour will be given for essay writing. All required stationary should be brought by contestants, they also should bring ID card from respective school principal.

2. Devotional songs will be held on Sunday, August 4 at 9.30 am

From 1st standard to 4th standard will be held at Madhwa Mantapa.

From 5th standard to 7th standard will be held at Madhwa Sabhangana. From 8th standard to 10th standard will be held at Rajangana.

Note: contestants should bring shruthi box

3. Drawing competition will be held on Saturday, August 10 will be held in three category at Madhwa Sabhangana, which will begin from 2pm to 4pm

From 3rd standard to 5th standard
From 6th standard to 7th standard
From 8th standard to 10th standard

Topic: Childhood days of Sri Krishna

Note: Drawing paper will be given at the place and stationary should be brought by contestants.

4. Recitation of Bhagavadgeetha will be held on Sunday, August 11 will be held in two category at Madhwa Sabhangana, which will begin from 1.30 pm.

For primary school children (from 1st to 7th standard)

High school students (from 8th to 10th standard-recitation of 15th edition)

Note: first priority will be given to fluency, purity and traditional style.

5. Devotional song will be held on Monday, August 12 will be held in two category at Rajangana, which will begin from 10 am.

From PUC to College level competition will be held at Rajangana

General public up to 50 years, will be held at Madhwa Sabhangana

6. Quiz competition will be held on Saturday, August 17 at Madhwa Sabhangana. There will have 50 questions on Avathars of Lord Sri Krishna.

Rangoli competition will be held on Sunday, August 18 at Madhwa Sabhangana

7. Rangoli competition will be held on Sunday, August 18 for below and above 60 years

Note: All required things must be bring by the contestant.

8. Tiger Dance will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at Rajangana for primary and High school students.

9. Blow Conch shell competition for public, will be held on Wednesday, August 21 at Madhwa Sabhangana at 3 pm.

10. Cotton making competition will be held on Thursday, August 22 at Kanakamantapa at 3 pm

11. Sri Krishna fancy dress competition will be held on Friday, August 23. There are three categories, Muddu Krishna (till 3 years), Bala Krishna (3-5years) and Kishora Krishna (5-8 years).

12. Grinding curd competition will be held on Friday, August 23 at 10 am at Annabrahma. Curd will be given at spot and required things should be brought by the participants.

13. Tiger Dance will be held on Saturday, August 24 at Rajangana at 4 pm. Special award is offering to each team.

14. Folk fancy dress competition on same day at Rajangana. A team should include 6 members.
