Raichur: First installment of Kissan Samman money to be deposited within 10 days - CM Yediyurappa

Raichur, Aug 5: Chief Minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa reiterated on Monday, August 5 that Rs 2,000 will be deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers, who are distraught by the recent drought as well as floods,  of the state as the first installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kissan Samman Nidhi scheme.
 
Yediyurappa spoke to the scribes after doing the aerial survey of the flood-affected parts of Raichur district and getting the report from the officials at the Yaramaras guest house. He further said, "The central government is giving Rs 6,000 as compensation to the farmers of the state who are in dire straits due to the flood and drought situation. The state government is also going to pay Rs 4,000 in two installments. All steps are taken to release the first installment of Rs 2,000."
 
"The flood situation in the Krishna river basin is serious and water is being let out from main reservoirs. Today the inflow of the Narayanapura dam at Lingasagoor was 2.90 lac Cusecs and 2.97 lac Cusecs of water is being let out from the dam. From Alamatte dam 3.25 lac Cusecs water is flowing out," said the CM, giving details of the flood situation.
 
The chief minister further said, "14 families of Lingasagur are in a iceland area, they will provided with medical relief. Special attention is being given to the affected people. Life Jacket is provided to the swimming experts who are going to save the flood-affected people."
 
"In 2009, people of 52 villages were shifted to safer places when Northern Karnataka was flooded. Because of the actions taken during that time, major disaster is averted this time. Some more houses, which get affected by floods every now and then will also be shifted," said Yediyurappa giving the details.
 
Yediyurappa also said, "We will see that affected areas do not face any issues. In addition, the farmers whose lands are submerged in the floods will be given suitable compensation. The report of Krishna river flood will be sent to prime minister Narendra Modi and appeal will be made to provide more relief."
