Udupi: Eight school children injured in rickshaw-scooter collision

Udupi, Sep 4: In an incident which happened at Indrali here on Tuesday September 3 morning, eight school going children were injured.

A scooter had been stopped near the Suzuki showroom at Indrali for taking a turn with its indicator on. An auto rickshaw that was recklessly driven from the direction of Manipal directly rammed into the stopped two-wheeler. The woman who was riding the scooter, and the auto rickshaw thereafter tumbled to the ground. The injured woman and children were admitted into Manipal hospital with help from some locals. The auto rickshaw driver escaped with minor nicks and cuts.

A case about this accident was registered in Manpal station. The driver also faces charge of violating norms of not carrying more than six children in the three-wheeler. It was found that eight children were being taken in his vehicle at the time of the accident, and the driver of the three-wheeler was speeding instead of carefully driving the vehicle.
