Bengaluru, Sep 9: The State Government is committed to translocate the people in the flood affected villages in Karnataka to new villages to be built in different parts of the State, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa announced on Monday.

The Chief Minister, who met a delegation of farmers led by Karnataka RajyaRaithaSangha and HasiruSene leader Kodihalli Chandrashekar and social activist T J Abraham at his home office Krishna in Bengaluru, assured that the government was determined to ensure suitable relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected people.

He promised to implement a series of measures to help the people in addition to the steps already taken.

Yediyurappa promised to discuss the Mahadayi water sharing issue with his Goa counterpart shortly.

On a complaint by Kodihalli Chandrashekar regarding the forcible collection of money from the victims sheltered in relief camps by agents of micro finance companies in Raichur district, he immediately contacted the Deputy Commissioner of the district and directed that stern steps be taken to book the culprits.

Responding to the demands for grant of adequate relief amounts for the drought affected people and constitution of Krishna River Maintenance Authority and Neera Board, the Chief Minister assured that the demands will be examined positively. Chief Minister’s adviser M Lakshminarayana was present on the occasion. Later, veteran freedom fighter H S Doreswamy called on the Chief Minister on the problems of Bengaluru city.
